DJ Zinc – Drive By Car feat. Eksman – Bingo
What a tune. I remember rinsing this tune on vinyl back in 2004/2005. Zinc needs no introduction, legendary status and a producer who has always championed MCs / vocalists and created so much magic with them. Eksman, my favourite all time MC and one of the reasons I do what I do now. I was lucky enough to be raving when this tune was getting played out live, what an era!
Dub Phizix and Skeptical feat Strategy – Marka – Exit Records
Josh and Matt Hybrid Minds played this on repeat at my wedding, which shows how strong our allegiance is with this tune. It was also played several times at their weddings too. It will also be played at all our daughter’s weddings too. Timeless perfection.
Chase & Status, Bou – Baddadan ft. IRAH, Flowdan, Trigga, Takura – EMI
Not much needed to be said. I was lucky enough to hear his tune be built in stages every week in Ibiza in 2023 during the C & S residency, an updated version each week. Feel like this tune has inspired a lot of MCs to make more music.
P Money x Whiney – Buss The Red – Hospital Records
So many tunes from Whiney and P Money should be on this list, they are my favourite DJ and MC combo for tunes and been lucky to see a few of their shows recently which went off. Buss the Red is unique, P Money has been a bit catalyst for many including me to turn their lyrics into tunes.
DRS – The View ft LSB & Tyler Daley – Soul:r
One of the best tunes in the history of drum and bass. Liquid anthem, a highlight of any day spent in the sun particularly in San Teodoro at Sun and Bass while massaging sun cream into my bald head. Thank you Luke, Del and Tyler for goodness.
K Motionz – Hack It (ft. Duskee) – UKF
How a producer and MC can come together flawlessly to make a banger. Duskee is one of those MCs who has made a lane all of his own, original in every way. Sending it for 6 off the planet. I’ve been lucky enough to work with K Motionz on “breathe” a few years back, the guy is a champion at letting an MC shine on a tune while building magic around it.
ICICLE feat SP:MC – DREADNAUGHT – SHOGUN AUDIO
One of the most perfect combos I’ve ever heard on a track. First heard Dreadnaught at Sun and Bass at Ambra Night in the inside Gazebo area. SP has a voice that can cut through any track and elevate it to something special. 11/10 and always will be this tune.
