Koherent – Bleep Test

The Koherent boys doing what they do best and taking minimal flavours and going balls to the wall with it. That perfect mix of refined minimalism and raw sonics, keeping the rudiments rolling but letting a lead element loose… Giving the whole
track this moody depth but with the playful ‘bleep’ creating so much identity, perfect juxtaposition for the dance.

Klinical – Around Me (Workforce Remix)

Such a sick flip on the original, the original from Klinical has this wicked depth to it with a more tech-based approach already a wicked beat. Workforce coming in on the remix compliments the original so well, giving the original new life but also keeping the identity. Going from a more grounded tech-based track to having this guttural raw roller sound, everything sitting a bit looser with a touch of aggression and grit.

Hyroglifics & Sustance – Upload

Straight up system rattler, get this in a club and let it roll. Hryoglifics & Sustance come through with a textbook stepper, super moody and minimal… Keeping it stripped back and just letting the b-line step along the beat adds so much weight, whole track feels like its progressing or leading into this mad crescendo the whole time which almost for me creates a sense of uneasiness (in a good way) because it always feels like it’s building. Been in heavy rotation for years.

Wingz – Sorrow

Couldn’t be an Overview list without Wingz in it, massive fan of what he’s doing. Always cutting through with some mad sounds and taking depth in minimalism a new direction. Was hard to pick a favourite, but for me I think Sorrow was one of the first tunes I heard of his. Caught me instantly in it’s super deep melodic themes, held together by this gnarly reece… A perfect track to transition from deeper to darker tracks in the mix.

Molecular & SMG – Talon

Certi heater, been rinsing since release. Perfect mix of both Molecular & SMG can hear both guys sounds in here and it all just works so well. Stripped back B-line with some gnarly rips is always a winner for me but this one just comes through with some next level murk. Also, that second drop has always got me grinning, the loose b-line and edits just add this mad swing to it.

Rizzle – Mirage

Rizzle always coming through with some wicked deep bits, huge fan all round but Mirage has this steppy grit to it which just hits in all the right places. The melodic elements work so well here, creating this fairly hooky lil riff with arp work… Then add in the B-line with these ripping leads and the dissonant pad sound, you get this wicked haunting moody soundscape, love it.

gyrofield – Katsuragi

Legit masterclass in atmosphere and vibe in electronic music, gyrofield is always pushing boundaries in terms of musicality and production, this is a perfect example of that. The whole intro section has this amazing film’esq feel to it, giving Vangelis/Zimmer, instantly inspiring feelings of dystopia to me. Then after this mad build we get this sick drop reminiscent of a modern flip on a classic Headz sound.

Bredren – Obelisk

Again, another certi club rinser. Such a perfect track for the dance, Bredren always coming with some heat. The dynamics between this wicked acid’esq build up into this super weighty stripped stepping drop are what make this so powerful. Another track that feels like it’s constantly building or in a sense evolving, invoking that feeling of urgency. Sick as always.

Thread – Overshadow

Thread is another one of those artists that has such a particular sound in their production, always having this mad depth with matched energy. Overshadow is a wicked track all round, from the droning melodic themes into rolling percussion and the B-line just cutting through everything nicely. Some really nice exploration of call and response in here too, with every expression in the low end there is this response from some gnarly mid-range synth… Keeping things super techy and interesting whilst being in this realm of synth soaked atmosphere.

Sustance – Bristol Gang

This was a real nice suprise with going back through some of Overviews discog, re discovering this EP from Sustance was wicked… Used to rinse every track on the Temperence EP but Bristol Gang was always special, for me it was a progression of Sustance’s signature sound, taking more minimal roots with almost jump up’esq sounds thrown in that he would then go on to refine to a godly level.
