Andy C announces Alive 2.0

Andy C is about to level up once again with a brand new concept show: Andy C presents Alive 2.0 will take place at London O2 Arena on April 7 2023. It will be his largest headline show to date.

Taking place on Good Friday next year, the show marks the return of his DJ/live performance hybrid concept Alive that he introduced and toured in 2012. A fusion of cutting edge and bespoke DJ, performance and A/V technology that allows Andy to maniuplate much more of the audio than a more conventional DJ set and control aspects of the visuals, the freshly updated Alive concept will comprise a five hour set from the Ram Records founder.

While Andy has performed to larger crowds at festivals and outdoor events, the 20,000 capacity O2 Arena is the largest space he’s performed in as a headline artist. The first time a DJ has ever hosted a headline show at the O2 Arena, it follows his legendary sell-out shows at iconic 12,000-capacity London event space Wembley SSE Arena and will also be one of the biggest indoor drum & bass events the UK has ever seen.

Sign-up for ticket information launches today (September 21), ticket presales go live September 28 and general sale goes live on September 30. Attendance is recommended as this promises to be one-of-a-kind experience.  The previous incarnation of Andy’s Alive concept was a unique performance hybrid that involved 2.5 tonnes of kit, a total of 364 buttons, well over a mile of cable and technology that’s never been used before. Devised and produced by a team who also worked on The Oscars and Cirque Du Soleil, the original Alive concept was so unusual and innovative it led to Andy C being Mixmag cover feature in summer 2012. The article was written by myself.

“Let’s give people a next level audio/visual show,” said Andy at the time. “A lot of people press play for a live show, that’s it basically. I ain’t doing that because every party is different. I might need to go deep, I might fancy playing a bit of old school, they might want me to play party, I might want to just play new tunes. Exactly what I’m like as a DJ! This day in age I want a big show that properly celebrates the DJ and what a DJ can do.”

A decade later and Andy C continues to celebrate what a DJ can do and push boundaries and set benchmarks for drum & bass at large. In the time that’s passed since his last Alive concept drum & bass has gone through a complete revolution as a mainstream genre and brought through a whole new generation of both artists and fans. Andy C has remained at the forefront at all times setting an example both on the underground grassroots side with his unforgettable XOYO residencies in both 2016 and 2021 and this year’s XO3.0 club tour and taking the genre to the largest possible stages… This will be the largest so far. And not just for drum & bass – this is a first for the whole of UK electronic music.

Andy C presents Alive 2.0 takes place on April 7 2023. The show takes place from 5pm and closes at 11pm.
