2016 Hype: Key releases confirmed this year

2016 releases star

New year, new beats…

Just as January wheezes its final soggy breaths, we’ve squeezed a bunch of labels and artists and managers for as much information on forthcoming material this year.

It’s not easy: leaks happen as quickly as one of Hype’s double drops and releases schedules are subject to so much change that news gets old or plain wrong fast. That said, we’ve sourced information on well over 50 releases that are coming our way this year.

TLDR? Watch this month’s episode of The Drop where a selection of these highly anticipated releases are ably hyped and listed by Linguistics… He’s even managed to secure some sneaky exclusive clips in there too.

Watch The Drop here, then read on, get excited and started saving the pennies/cents/bitcoins…

Big releases dropping very soon…

Mikal – Wilderness (Metalheadz)

Solid D&B sickness from Goldie’s not-so-silent assassin Mikal. This one’s dropping next week. Read the full story we ran earlier this week.

Flume – Skin (Future Classic)

A teaser landed on Jan 4, two more originals have dropped since – Never Be Like You and Smoke & Retribution. Both tracks suggest this is going to literally be a future classic.

Baauer – Aa (Lucky Me)

Announced last night on The Late Show with a powerful performance of Day Ones. Anticipated since Harlem ShakeAa drops March 18

Submotion Orchestra – Colour Theory (Counter Records)

Album number four in just as many years: Submotion Orchestra’s bass/beats roots still dig deep while the band flex through more styles, fusions and ideas than ever before. Expect this February 19.

Haywyre – Two Fold Pt 2 (Monstercat)

Yes! Just over a year after he dropped the boundary-smashing Two Fold Pt 1, Austrian key wizard and all-around maestro Haywyre is going to follow it up with another work of fused beauty. Word on the street is that it will land late in February. He’s already teased us with the superlative Endlessly

Untitled but confirmed (and massive)…

Netsky: he confirmed it just weeks ago right here.

Chase & Status: Imminent, they tweeted about it only yesterday

Camo & Krooked: No idea when but their management has confirmed that their fourth album will definitely land this year.

Excision: Currently in the thick of his Paradox assault, we’ve been told he’s definitely dropping  a new album this year.

Mat Zo: He said early Feb on Twitter earlier this year but he seems to be focused on his exciting new project The Producers Forum. These awesome album reject demos should keep us happy while we wait, though.

The labels…

Here’s what some of our favourite labels have to tease us with this year…

Circus have confirmed three new signings this year: Standard&Push, Big Voyage and Cyran. They’ve also confirmed two albums from…

Two albums: Emperor’s debut and a long player from Current Value

Now in their 15th year of business Dispatch Recordings are attacking 2016 with more events than ever before including Manchester, Leeds, Brighton, Dubai, Tallinn, Fabric London, Outlook Festival Croatia and loads more in the pipeline. Release-wise this is what’s popping….

Dispatch Recordings 100: Featuring brand new releases from artists old and new plus a re-release of some of the labels highlights across its lifespan so far.

DLR: Follow up album to Seeing Sounds, entitled Dreamland.

Zero T: Follow up on last year’s Golden Section album, as yet untitled.

Plus singles and EPs from… Andy Skopes, Denial, DBR UK, Structured, Nymfo, Total Science, Philth, Quadrant & NC-17, Gerra & Stone, DLR and SCAR.

Division / Invisible / Vision

As always, it’s all go at Noisia HQ. Vision will release two albums but they won’t confirm who. Meanwhile on Division and Invisible….

Division’s first various artist EP drops next week with blistering halftime fusions from Monuman (Emperor), Signs, ARKTKT, Ponicz, JNTHN STEIN and the Noisia & Ivy Lab collaboration we lit the new year with on YouTube.

Sofie Letitre: The hugely talented songwriter we featured last year is working on new material which will be released before ánd after the summer.

Signs: Not content with featuring on next week’s V/A EP, the French act will be releasing a solo EP on Division very soon.

Society Of Numbers: Who? That’s the Upbeats teaming up with Armanni Reign, that is. Expect an EP from them on Division this year, too.

Invisible, meanwhile, have music locked from Davip, Lockjaw, Abstract Elements, Bl4ck Owlz, Subtension, Disprove, Signal, Current Value, Survey, NickBee and Hybris. Stay locked.

In the last week they’ve just torn Ministry Of Sound a new one with their debut Dolby Atmos experience and their annual Hospitality album that featured exclusive new tracks from Fred V & Grafix, Krakota, Logistics, Ulterior Motive, Metrik, Urbandawn, Whiney, Need For Mirrors, High Contrast, Hugh Hardie + Pola & Bryson, Nu:Tone, Keeno, S.P.Y, Nu:Logic and Anile.

Following that Keeno will drop his second album Futurist on MedSchool at the end of February plus new albums from, Rawtekk, Fred V & Grafix and Maduk coming later this year.

We’ve already listed Mikal’s long awaited debut album, following that you can expect… Albums from SCAR and DLR & Mako’s massive OneMind project

PLUS two big comebacks… Commix are back after a lengthy hiatus while John B returns to the label for the first time in well over 10 years!

Fresh from announcing 1991 yesterday, MTA are set to bombard us with fresh talent this year. Here’s what they’ve confirmed so far…

Kill Them With Colour will be dropping with a wicked video for the already tried and tested Get High

Ossie’s 2nd EP is due for release early this year.

Catchment and Dimension have both got big singles locked for 2016

Dellux and Braxon both have EPs due for imminent release. Expect premium experimentation.

All eyes on Hype and Pascal’s Playaz as they prepare to drop Annix’s highly anticipated debut album Forever on February 29. Following that we can expect EPs and singles Potential Badboy, Jam Thieves, Drumsound & Bassline Smith and Sub Zero.

Rumour has it Hazard may drop something pretty substantial this year too!

Last year Ram dropped a release pretty much every single week. 2016 is looking similarly busy…

Delta Heavy: their debut album Paradise Lost will land March 4. Pre-order now and grab City Of Dreams now.

Calyx & TeeBee’s 1X1 album will drop later this year as well as the label’s annual Ramiami compilation, new material from Andy C, Loadstar, Audio and RamLife which, we’ve been told, will be hosted by a very big DJ yet to be confirmed.

Last year was huge for Spearhead as they delivered impeccable albums from label bossman Bcee, Riya and Muffler. Expect the same level of quality this year with at least 2 EPs from Bcee and Villem’s The Vanguard Project.

PLUS an album from Mutated Forms, a remix project from Bcee’s Come & Join Us album and EPs from Villem & McLeod, Nymfo and FD. Plus loads more!

As always, Viper are set to hit us with 50 shades of heavy throughout the year. We know at least two albums will come our way from Futurebound’s megalabel: InsideInfo and, in the second half of the year, Cyantific!

Everything else we know so far…

High Contrast: Last year he told us he was producing an album with a UK heritage dance act. We can now tell you that act is Underworld. He’s also working on new High Contrast material to be release this year too.

Broken Note: Methlab beat twister Broken Note is cooking a lot of next level material this year… We’ve been told to expect a rather large halftime track coming before summer.

Billain: We can confirm that an LP is definitely in the making this year

Optiv & CZA: Long-time neuro compadres will be releasing an album this year etitled What Lies Ahead

MachineCode: Not content with one album release, Current Value is also working hard with Dean Rodell for a new MachineCode album, due for release later this year on Eatbrain

L 33: Another exciting neuro forefront runner, Bulgarian badman L 33 will also be releasing an album on Eatbrain this year too
