D&B @ ADE: Amsterdam Dance Event Bass Round Up

Sun And Bass and Hospitality In The Park may have officially marked the end of summer drum & bass dances, but festival season isn’t over quite yet…

Destination Amsterdam Dance Event: a five day day/night schedule of panels and parties designed solely to unite as many people in electronic music as possible in order to push the music, develop the industry and create new connections. Creating IRL spaces and opportunities that the internet can’t even dream of, ADE has been the backdrop of many massive projects, releases, signings, collaborations over the years.

This year it’s also home to our friends at Drum&BassArena. They’ll be taking over the Lux Café on Friday October 19 with ADE Beats for an afternoon full of insight, education and opportunities for any rising and aspiring artist or industry professional.

Futurebound, DJ Hype, Aphrodite, Black Sun Empire, The Prototypes, A.M.C, Kove and many more D&B insiders will be joining the longstanding black and yellow brand as they cover all aspects of the genre from discussing its deepest roots to analysing its exciting future. Complete with demo listening sessions and an afterparty with performances from A.M.C, Futurebound and Kove until 9pm; if you have a serious interest in drum & bass or you’re looking develop your role within the scene then attendance is highly recommended / borderline mandatory. ADE Beats x Drum&BassArena

Where: Cafe Lux

Time: 1pm – 9pm

When: Friday October 19

An afternoon of insight and an evening of partying: Drum&BassArena will be taking over Cafe Lux with ADE Beats for a full timetable of deep D&B science. Highlights include a keynote speech from Futurebound; a detailed discussion about the genre’s roots with DJ Hype, Aphrodite, Futurebound and Scott Bourne; a glance into the future of drum & bass with the likes of A.M.C, Kove, The Prototypes and Thrasher and talks about how both the live and global aspects of drum & bass have developed. The event ends with three massive sets from Futurebound, Kove and A.M.C. Perfect for anyone looking to develop as an artist or professional in drum & bass.


The North Quarter Showcase

Where: Suzy Wong

Time: 5pm – 10pm

When: Wednesday October 17

Lenzman’s unstoppable imprint The North Quarter make their ADE debut with a cosy evening session at Suzy Wong. An informal setting and a fitting deep and soulful soundtrack on the first night of the conference; this is perfect to ease yourself into the spirit of the event and get to catch one of the most exciting new labels up close and personal. Submorphics, Satl, Dan Stezo, Nubian and Gokil System will be joining Lenzman at the bash and they all promise fresh TNQ material. Go and taste the future…


No Sleep Till PRSPCT + Q&A

Where: Melkweg Cinema

Time: 5.30pm – 7pm

When: Thursday October 18

Not a party but a highly recommended documentary on PRSPCT, an event where drum & bass, breakcore and hardcore fuse to become one anarchic, hedonistic experience. No Sleep Till PRSPCT is a celebration of the party’s 15 years and documents the punk rock foundations the party was built on as it follows its founder DJ Thrasher for a whole year. Expect a frank insight into the background, influence and challenges faced by one of The Netherlands’ most unique and influential parties.

Monstercat Uncaged

Where: Melkweg

Time: 11.30 – 7am

When: Thursday October 18

Unleashed and free to prowl Amsterdam, Monstercat will be taking up residence at Melkweg on the Thursday with a major league line up that covers the same vibrant spectrum their brand supports. They’re going in hard, too; Noisia are headlining and they’re joined by none other than Feed Me, Modestep, Muzzy, Going Quantum, Gammer, Pegboard Nerds and Tokyo Machine. From heavyweight D&B to dubstep via white knuckle hardcore, this is going to be a roadblock.

Time: Midnight – 6am

When: Thursday October 18

Mud free guarantee: Hospitality returns to the clubs by way of the city’s legendary converted church venue Paradiso. Expect a ridiculous three room blow out alongside Medschool and NCT Invites. Room one is home to Camo & Krooked, Danny Byrd, S.P.Y, Inja and Kid Hops. Room two is all about Etherwood, Whiney, Bop, Lakeway and Ruthless while room three sees Fox Stevenson, Cartoon, GLXY, T & Sugah, Voicians and Zazu join NCT. All bass bases covered, this is one is going to cause major hangovers for the final day of panels and workshops.

Viper ADE Showcase: Boat Party & Melkweg

Where: Pier 14 / Melkweg

Time: 7pm – 11pm / 12 – 5am

When: Friday October 19

Fresh from opening the ADE Beats X Drum&BassArena schedule of events, Futurebound and his right-hand man Matrix will be corralling the Viper troops for two Friday night parties. The boat party kicks off at 7pm and will take the vital Viper sounds across Amsterdam’s iconic canals before arriving at Melkweg at 11. Then from midnight Viper will be taking over the venue’s upper floor for an up close session that brings that back to the underground source. Limited to only 200 tickets, it’s a rare chance to catch Matrix & Futurebouond, Dossa & Locuzzed, Murdock, NCT and Zazu in such an intimate setting. This one is going to be special.

Critical Sound

Where: Melkweg

Time: 11.30pm -5am

When: Saturday October 20

Kasra rolls the big guns into town as Critical Sound takes over one of the city’s most prestigious rave dens, the Melkweg. Representing Critical’s distinctive molten forward-thrusting sound are Noisia’s Thys, Halogenix, QZB and Hyroglifics.
