High Contrast has been nominated for a Grammy Award

High Contrast has been nominated for a Grammy Award next year.

The Welsh artist is in the shortlist alongside Soulwax, Wuki, Ford. and Tracy Young for his remix of Jorja Smith’s The One in the Best Remixed Recording category.

The Grammy Awards 2020 nominations were announced yesterday, this is the first time High Contrast has been in the running for one. The news lands at the end of another great year for the man named Lincoln Barrett; busy touring both as a DJ and with his live band this year, musically he’s been re-exploring his roots with the exemplary euphoric breakbeat rave-up Going Up and an update of the cult classic Days Go By. Jorja Smith isn’t the only artist to enjoy his remix touch. Norwegian singer Sigrid and indie poppers Two Door Cinema Club have also been blessed with High Contrast versions in recent months.

It’s his remix of Jorja Smith that’s grabbed the Grammy Nomination attention, however, and he is in good company, too. Skrillex & Boys Noize have been nominated in Best Dance Recording (for Midnight Hour) while Chemical Brothers are nominated for two awards: Best Dance Recording (Got To Keep On) and Best Dance / Electronic Album (No Geography). Other nominations in the electronic world include Flume, Apparat and Bonobo.

The Grammys 2020 takes place on January 26 in The Staples Center, LA next year. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the results and wish High Contrast the best of luck!
