There are Essential Mixes and there are Essential Mixes.
The type of mixes that ooze detail and capture not just the current moment in time but also the roots of the DJ and where they’re heading. Mixes like this 100+ track beast from Camo & Krooked. If you haven’t already, press play and cancel any engagements, plans or meetings you have for the next two hours…
It’s the type of trip Essential Mixes were made for: a beautiful journey that sucks you right in and chews you up for the whole two hours before spitting you out on the other side. Just with the reference-laden intro alone, you know the guys have something special. Featuring sounds across the board from Nina Simone to Noisia to Nathan Fake it flexes from modern day classics to cheeky edits via stacks of previously unheard material and a various cosmic and soulful diversions, this follows the likes of Spor, Pendulum, Nero and High Contrast as one of the best bass Essential Mixes to date.
And it sets us up very nicely for Camo & Krooked’s long-long-long-awaited fourth album Mosaik, which is due imminently.
If that’s not quite enough album hype, we can also confirm that Camo & Krooked have collaborated with fellow Austrian bass-smith Mefjus for a track on Mosaik. Entitled Mandala we can also confirm it’s every bit as good as you’d expect from the two acts… If not better. Retaining both act’s signatures and contrasts without losing any of the weight of emotion in the fusion, it’s likely to be one of the biggest tracks this summer. It’s coming very soon right here on UKF Drum & Bass. In the meantime, here’s a picture of all three men concerned just hanging out in a leafy area just generally being Austrian and cool af.
