So far the likes of Zeds Dead, Netsky, Tchami, Missy Elliott and many more have chewed up the original’s hands-up, hooky ingredients and spat out their own tasty twists. Now it’s time for the currently unstoppable LA youngster AWE… And he’s cooked up something very special.
Forthcoming on OWSLA’s sexy skeleton fronted Spring Compilation 2015, AWE’s take on the Planet Jack U’s national anthem is the opening cut on the album and kick-starts the 13-track romp with serious intention.
Switching between early 90s rave breakbeats and a subverted, angular take on the original’s well-known drop, it’s yet another solid sign that AWE is one talented player who isn’t going to budge from the forefront of bass music for a long, long time.
