Sunday night was a big one for Skrillex & Diplo.
Now clocking in at over 500 million streams and 300 million views, Where Are U Now won gold at the American Music Awards for brand new trophy Best Collaboration. Their unavoidable Bieber co-lab fought off the likes of Paul McCartney, Rihanna & Kanye’s FourFiveSeconds, Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk, Taylor Swift & Kendrick Lamar’s Bad Blood and Wiz Khalifa & Charlie Puth’s See You Again.
But even bigger news for fans was dropped on the red carpet as Diplo and Skrillex were interviewed by Bailee Madison and Frankie Grande. Amid inane chat about glitter and Snapchat filters they tease us with confirmation that brand new material is en route and likely to drop in the new year.
With 2016 just five weeks away, we don’t have long to wait to hear it. In fact the duo could well repeat a similar hype that they did last year: when a single EP mention on Diplo’s Instagram sparked an eight week hype train that culminated in their album. Whatever they drop and however they drop it, it will be interesting to see them develop on their hugely successful year.
