Problem Central will be the first MC-led act to curate an XOYO residency

Following the likes of Andy C, Calibre, DJ Zinc and Ram Records, Problem Central will be taking over Friday nights at XOYO throughout June.

A debut for the Shoreditch club, it’s the first time the venue has enlisted an MC-led collective to curate their long-running residency sessions. DJs and MCs recruited so far by the crew include Amplify, DJ Hype, Remarc, Hazard, Harry Shotta, Shabba D, Ragga Twins, Frankee D, Georgie Riot, Carasel, Original Sin, Sub Zero, Phantasy, TNA, Trigga and many more.

“To be a part of the first MC led monthly residency at XOYO is a very proud moment for us,” states Eksman. “We have called in loads of our friends, colleagues and inspirations to join us over the four week takeover. London doesn’t know what’s about to hit it. Get ready for vibes like never seen before.”

It’s an exciting new level for the four-man super-crew who formed in 2017. Comprising MCs Eksman and Evil B and DJ/producers Logan D and Majistrate, Problem Central are one of the biggest MC-fronted D&B collectives in operation and have gone from strength to strength, despite lockdowns and restrictions over the last few years.

We spoke Problem Central back in 2018 after their first summer of festivals. They explained how they came together and how the fact that they’ve known each other for so many years helps their chemistry. They also spoke about the state of drum & bass at the time and how it was ready for MC-fronted acts like them and others to take things to the next level.

“It’s down to the climate in the scene at the moment and the fact we’ve been doing this for years and smashing club nights week in / week out,” Eksman told us at the time. “Now we want to take that further. We know there’s a place for us there.”

For June, XOYO is the place and the line-up is a healthy and diverse reflection of the whole spectrum of drum & bass.

“To be able to bring this back to London where our whole journey started back in the jungle days is epic,” adds Evil B. “XOYO is the perfect place for Problem Central to showcase what we’re about as a collective, but also an amalgamation of music and styles in a varied supporting line up that represents our journey.”

The new stage of this journey begins on Friday June 3. The full list of acts set to play over the four week residency is in the flyer above, sign up now for more details and ticket information
