Earlier this year we saw the highly surprising and gloriously welcome return of Hungarian powerhouse Spinline. And today we are delighted to announce that in December this year Sofa Sound Bristol will present their debut album- ‘Reaching The Oasis’.
Back in the early 2010’s the Hungarian trio were hailed as masters of their craft and known for their unique and consistently forward-thinking sound, racking up releases on RAM Records, Dispatch and Shogun Audio. An untimely split saw the music stop until their unexpected appearance on Sofa Sound’s Sofa King Sick Chapter 2- a jaw droppingly vast- ten years later.
Listening through to their back catalogue it’s clear to see how Spinline are strong favourites of label boss DLR- their sound carries across the breadth of drum and bass’s deeper, most brooding sub-genres and contains twists of tech and pepperings of psychedelic, with an underlying wisp quirkiness. And it appears we have more of the same to come. A note from the imprint promises the album will be “A proper long player, it’s an organic and visceral embodiment of Spinline, bringing a distinctive Eastern European / Baltic flavour with influences steeped in Acid House, Techno, Drum & Bass.”
This is the first artist album to be released on Sofa Sound Bristol and astonishingly a debut album from these legends of the Hungarian scene. The first single Ka is out tomorrow, but you can preorder the album now. And if you’re a fan of some exclusives to pep up your playlists, you’ll receive a 60 minute mixtape which includes alternative 120 bpm versions of the tracks. This is the album that no-one expected to happen, and yet here we are. Rejoicing in the blessings of the unexpected.
