The Prototypes confirm album release date and tease more new material

The hype for The Prototypes’ long-awaited debut album City Of Gold was compounded once again yesterday. This time it was their erstwhile label bossman Friction stoking the fires live on BBC Radio 1 as he premiered a brand new track; a hard-hitting, ragga-flecked cut entitled Pop It Off.

While the title sounds like something a well-practiced doctor might request during an examination, the actual track is gritty, rolling and murked with just the right amount of tech grime.

It’s the UK duo at their darkest and the premiere landed in conjuction with a pre-order and release date confirmation of May 17. According to iTunes info, the album is looking at 17 tracks in total with Moscow as a bonus trackĀ andĀ an extended mix of the album. With Xilent also confirming album plans for May yesterday, next month is shaping up to be a bit of a banger!

Watch out for Pop It Off in all its glory on UKF very soon, in the meantime here’s the radio rip. And here’s the pre-order. Bring on the full album!
