Teased earlier this month, premiered by Annie Mac last night, Chase & Status have finally revealed the first track to come from their forthcoming fourth album: Control.
Rocky, heavy and high in sweaty energy, Chase & Status – Control is a fresh, aggressive twist on the duo’s ever-developing sound. Punching with a strong hit of The Prodigy and collaboratively written with UK punk duo Slaves, the bold track doesn’t hold back, both sonically and lyrically with its politically charged lyrics and visually striking video. Directed by Henrik Hansen, you can actually explore the video’s scenes and camera angles a little more here.
Judging by their Facebook not all fans are impressed by this new sound, but the broader picture here is this: they’ve just followed a series of precision executed grime tracks with a metal-edged banger. We can’t think of any other act who can continually flip expectations in this way and can successfully collaborate and create with artists as diverse as Nile Rodgers, Novelist and Slaves.
PLUS this is guaranteed to add another level of energy to their already impressive live shows and leaves all sorts of expectations of what the full album will sound like when it drops.
No title or release date has been revealed for their forthcoming album as yet, but we’ll report it as soon as we find out.
In the meantime, enjoy…
some time ago there was here a music video about “system, anti police, riots, etc.” DNB or dubstep. Any one got a clue?
