The Johnson Family are back with their third – and best – dubstep Christmas light show.
Shunning the standard cliche Santa frames, inflatables and models many people plaster their houses with each festive season, they’ve been creating their own bespoke light shows since 2013. Fully sync’d with the music and, as of this year, 100 per cent pixel-based, their custom made production level is a feast for the senses… And all programmed from a Raspberry Pi. If you’re interested in insane levels of tech detail, the dad Matt Johnson goes into great detail on how they create the structures and program them on this behind the scenes video.
If, however, you’re just interested in watching some sick visuals to a mash-up of (occasionally seasonal) bangers from the likes of Skrillex, Pentakill and Hedegaard then watch the full display below. The new pixel matrix on their windows are an impressive addition from last year’s show, and their idea to add a little charity angle to their work is a nice touch too: they’re hoping to raise $10,000 for Living Water International in order to build wells in the Central African Republic where the infant mortality rate is one of the highest in the world. Find out more.
Here’s their full Christmas display in all its 11 minute glory. Enjoy…
