Capi’s Essential Set Killers

Captain Bass, hailing from Herne, Belgium, has rapidly established himself as a powerful presence in the Drum and Bass scene. Known for his innovative sound design, razor-sharp switch-ups, and commanding intros, he first rose to prominence within the jump-up sub-genre, before expanding into dancefloor and dubstep.

To celebrate his new track ‘Danger’ with Eksman out now on Invicta Audio we invited him to share his essential set killers.

Captain Bass & Eksman – Danger

We kick things off with my newest release and honestly, it’s one of my favourite tracks I’ve ever written. The melody came to me instantly and just stuck! It wouldn’t leave my head. When Eksman jumped on it he took it to another level. His vocal energy transformed it into a full-blown anthem. Every time I play it out, the reaction is unreal.

Camo & Krooked – Watch It Burn

This track changed everything for me. It was one of the very first drum and bass tunes I ever heard and I still remember the goosebumps I got when it dropped. That mix of emotion and energy completely hooked me. Camo & Krooked’s production style continues to influence me massively and Watch It Burn was what sparked it all.

Hedex – Forever

This is the track that made me fall in love with Jump Up. It has energy, catchy bassline and the kind of drop that makes a whole room go nuts. Hedex has been a huge influence on my music and Forever really opened my eyes to what Jump Up could be. It’s one of those tunes I always come back to for inspiration.

Turno & Majistrate – World’s End

I first heard this banger on a livestream from Laundry Day, a legendary festival in Belgium. I’ll never forget the feeling when this tune came on. The build-up and drop is basically Jump Up perfection. It captures the chaos and excitement of a festival crowd in one track in my opinion.

Captain Bass – Game Boy

This was my first proper release and it holds a special place in my heart. I debuted it live in Vienna and the crowd absolutely lost it. That moment gave me chills and confirmed that this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life!. Even now, people tell me it’s one of their all-time favourites. Game Boy was where it all really began for me as Capi..

Dominator – I Like

Dominator was a true pioneer. He had this gift for making Jump Up sound so effortless, so simple yet insanely catchy. I Like is one of his heavier tunes and it absolutely slaps. That filthy bassline and signature “womp” sound are unforgettable. He is one of the greats, rest in peace to a true legend.

Captain Bass – Statement

Statement marked a milestone in my career. It was my first release on a large UK label, Allstars RAW, the sister label to DnB Allstars. The response was overwhelming. I’ve had some massive crowd reactions in my time, but this one stands out. It’s got that huge, stadium-ready energy and to this day, it remains my most streamed solo track. A real turning point for me.

Netsky – Puppy

This tune sits right next to Watch It Burn as one of the earliest tracks that made me fall in love with drum and bass. It’s got that classic Netsky blend of melody and rhythm that just hits differently. A few years later, he invited me to play on his stage at Tomorrowland for my debut there – which was a full-circle moment I’ll never forget.

Hedex & Captain Bass ft. MC Skywalker – Soldiers

Working on this track was a dream come true. Hedex, who is one of my biggest inspirations, reached out to collaborate and I honestly freaked out. We smashed it out in a week and Skywalker brought his A-game with the vocals. The chemistry was instant. Soldiers became an anthem and the love it’s received has been next level, true Belgium style.

Primate & Captain Bass ft. MC Skywalker – Jump Up

My biggest streaming song to date and we did it independently. The energy on this one is mental, Marcel and I opened our Rampage set with it and the reaction was explosive. That moment cemented the track as a fan favourite and a live set staple. Every time it drops, it goes off. Crowd energy doesn’t lie, I think together it’s one of our favourite tracks ever.
