Essential Sun And Bass Playlist

Behold… In celebration of Sardinia’s longstanding week-long bass mecca Sun And Bass we have put together our largest, most expansive playlist ever.

Kicking off amid the silky sands and mighty mountains of San Teodoro this Saturday, and ending a week later on September 13, Sun And Bass takes the best elements of a discerning music-lover’s festival and sets them in an unspoilt holiday environment. A far cry from other coastal resort destinations – where decent daily grub and a few fun activities will require mortgage – San Teodoro is relaxed and relatively free of commercial trappings, making it the perfect home for a seamless array of day time beach parties and night time club events.

With a whole week to indulge, there’s no pressure to get stuck in full throttle and overdo it on the first (second, third or fourth) night, but rather soak up our favourite music in your own time, at your own leisure with your own friends… Old and new.

What began as a free party in 2003 is now one of the most respected and awaited events on the European bass calendar. Largely D&B but with delicate spatterings of dubstep, house and even classic soul, each event showcases the very best of our favourite music. Jungle forefather Dom & Roland has publically declared it as ‘the best festival on the planet’ and it’s had such an effect on John B that when he missed it last year due to illness, he wrote a whole song as a tribute!

Like all the best festivals, the benchmark keep elevating each year. This year is no exception as over 100 artists descend on the Italian island for a week of bass-blessed bliss. From Fabio to Flight, Loxy to Lynx, Ulterior Motive to Utah Jazz, Spirit to Synkro, the whole spectrum is covered with impressive attention to detail.

Check out the line-up and everything else about the festival here.

We reckon a festival of this level requires a playlist of extensive proportions… The original intention was to create a playlist of every artist on the bill. That would be well over seven hours of music. Instead we’ve put this together. A three and a half hour journey that flexes from authentic dub to tearing D&B before settling you back down into a deep dubby meditation.

Whether you’re about to fly out to Sun And Bass, you’re sitting at home feeling a bit jelly (like us) or you’re chilling at another massive European festival Outlook right now, let this be your soundtrack!
