Fabric played a huge role in shaping me as a music fan and years later became theLondon home for me and my label. This wouldn’t have happened without the help and support of Shaun Roberts, who left us far too soon.

When the Never Sleep crew asked me to contribute to their mix series I knew i’d like to honour Shaun and help raise some money for Bowel Cancer UK.

Without Shaun and people like him taking chances on people like me the musicland scape would look very different.

Shaun Roberts RIP x – Kasra

Shaun Roberts was a beloved UK club promoter who played a pivotal role in shaping London’s iconic fabric nightclub. On Christmas Eve last year, after a brave three-year battle with cancer, Shaun Roberts passed away, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew him and forever marking his legacy in the annals of UK club culture.

Shaun Roberts’s connection with Fabric ran deep, spanning over 16 years. He was an integral part of the fabric family from the very beginning when the club opened its doors in 1999. Initially involved in promoting the club’s launch, he quickly became an essential member of the fabric team. Over the years, he worked his way up, eventually becoming the club’s promotions manager, a role he held from 2006 to 2016.

One of Shaun Roberts’s most significant contributions was his involvement in fabric’s flagship Friday night party series, FABRICLIVE. Alongside Steve Blonde, he helped conceptualise and develop this groundbreaking series. FABRICLIVE became a platform for various labels, collectives, and DJs from the bass music and drum & bass scenes to curate memorable nights at fabric.

Roberts was not just about promoting events; he was a visionary who played a key role in programming fabric’s acclaimed FABRICLIVE compilation series. Launched in 2001, this series featured mixes from legendary artists like Andy C & DJ Hype, dBridge & Instra:mental, Four Tet, Ben UFO, Daniel Avery, Flava D, and many more. With Shaun Roberts’s guidance, it became a hallmark of excellence in the electronic music world.
