Wurlitzer EP200
The one thing I cannot do without, cannot LIVE without, is my Wurlitzer EP200 electric piano.
I bought this for £120 in 1996 in West Kensington shortly after we started Hospital Records. I jokingly called the early D&B that I was making back then Loungecore. But it wasn’t a joke, it actually was loungecore. And the Wurly fit right in. When I play it, I am suddenly Karen Carpenter in 1966, or Supertramp in 1974.
I do record with it a lot, as it has a unique sound and vibe, but I also always use it when I write songs, basslines, hooks, or when testing out chord sequences. it’s so quick and has so much soul that I can just vibe.
It makes me smile just to look at it in my studio.
I love my Mac, all the stuff I can do in the box, it’s all good, but I would feel disconnected without my Wurly.
