#TBT: Nero – Crush On You (Knife Party Remix)

Rewind to that golden time when Knife Party came crashing into our lives.

In the wake of their agenda-setting remix of Swedish House Mafia (still as an anonymous duo), Knife Party tore us to pieces with an upload on every UKF channel between September – December 2011. Even our lesser spotted channel UKF Mixes played a role in the story as it introduced the duo with a short but savage mix that September.

What followed was an onslaught of house/bass/dubstep/drumstep chaos as Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen explored the extremities of lower tempo fusion within the capabilities of D&B production, bringing many of the sounds and genres we love together in a frothing, often furious, melting pot.

Stupidly heavy scuds landed on UKF Drum & Bass, UKF Dubstep and UKF within a matter of weeks. Other acts to appear on all three channels include Noisia, Chase & Status, Nero, Xilent, Doctor P, and Funtcase. None of them, however, did so within such a short space of time.

Here’s their first track upload; a riotous drumstep switch-up of Nero’s cheeky 80s-slapping banger Crush On You. Perfect balance of the original’s sample and their own toxic, spiky brew, it still sounds massive today and was quickly followed by the No Modern Talking tracks Fire Hive and Destroy Them With Lazers. Good times.

Here’s where it all started…
