#TBT: SKisM – Back Off

<<RWD: SKisM – Back Off. Seven years old next week.

One of Tom Petais’ earliest SKisM productions, Back Off came our way on the late great Hardcore Beats’ sister imprint Wicky Lindows. Released September 2009, within months SKisM was making dubstep history with the launch of Never Say Die.

Fitting: There’s a gentle waft of the 2009s in the air this year with The Others and Bare Noize both returning to the channel in the last few weeks and Myro taking us right back with Playa. Elsewhere Caspa & Rusko’s successful reunion continues to spawn delicious rule-free rhythms and  let us not forget Cookie Monsta’s mission to bring back the Wobl this spring. Oh, and SKisM’s just fronted an episode of our series The Evolution Of The Bass Drop.

The timing is right for this sound to come back: dirty, roughened gully funk like this is a scientifically proven tonic, guaranteed to sooth the soul during frustrating, testing times. For added weight and irony, the A-side was Rise Of The Idiots. Who knew SKisM had a crystal ball?
