#TBT: Skrillex – Kill Everybody (KOAN Sound Remix)

Throwback Tuesday missions are in order this week as we acknowledge half a decade of our third YouTube channel: UKF Music.

Now simply UKF, the channel was launched with one sole mission: to celebrate everything that excites us beyond, between and beside the two flagship channels UKF Drum & Bass and UKF Dubstep (both established April 2009)

Launched precisely five years ago on October 25 2011 (also a Tuesday) it was an exciting time in bass music: dubstep was still donning the landscape, lurking in the dark corners of every genre from house to D&B, glitch was really beginning to find its place, moombahton was slowing down the tempo and bringing in a whole new world of influences, leading drum & bass labels such as Ram and Hospital were experimenting with remixes and b-sides beyond their usual genre confines (or a-sides with Sub Focus’s Could This Be Real) artists such as Pendulum’s Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen were about to change the game as Knife Party and the term EDM wasn’t even a thing.

An interesting moment in the ever-developing chronicles of bass, the channel has since played host to a crucial roll-call of exciting talents old and new: Kill The Noise, Chris Lorenzo, Jauz, Virtual Riot, Disclosure, Culprate, Zomboy, Ben Pearce, Baauer, Breakage, Oliver Heldens, Asa, Habstrakt, Funtcase and stacks more have all flexed their genre-smashing wares on the channel. And it started with this… KOAN Sound tearing up Skrillex and rebuilding him in a switchy glitchy crusade that still sounds fresh today.

Thanks for all the support. Here’s to another five years!
