TC – “It’s a great time to be alive!”

Could TC be THE MOST positive man in drum & bass?

We reckon… YES.

Whether he’s talking about his own productions, his love for MCing, being on tour with Zomboy or his forthcoming appearance at UKF’s fifth birthday party, the man is oozing more good vibes than a room full of lottery winners.

It took us three weeks to pin him down for interview. In that time he’s played countless shows, released three bootlegs, three remixes and one KILLER single Everything For A Reason. Here’s what he has to say about all of it…

TC on 2014:

“This year has been great, so many awesome festivals and gigs. Met a lot of new friends and hung out with old friends. I feel so blessed to be doing what I am doing!  The year kicked off really well with the release on OWSLA of Get Down Low. Then there was the top 10 with Fresh who, I must say, is an amazingly talented producer and all round safe guy! There’s been a lot of remixes and bootlegs but they’re just a part of the D&B thing, really… I love having new tunes for my DJ sets and it’s so awesome for people to connect with your set that might not have heard D&B before.”

TC on Everything For A Reason:

“I definitely don’t drink all day or smoke too much! The song is actually about how sometimes I wish my life was like a movie. Is everything you do and say already planned or are we just freely wondering around in the wilderness? It’s my first release on 3Beat, too, which has been great. They’re really nice people and I am so happy to be working with them. This thing is all about people. Not just in music but in everything I do in life. I just wanted to surround myself with people who are safe as! Also 3Beat are very serious about music and doing things right and letting the music talk.”

There are going to be some surprises. Not everyone will love what’s going to happen… But I want that. I want to challenge people. I want them to talk about things that they feel strongly about.

TC on his forthcoming album:

“It has been a long time in the making! I have made several albums worth of material… That’s just what I do. I could never release everything I write; I feel I have to pay some kind of imaginary homage to the gods of the lost dubplate or something!

But I do have a very clear concept for the album. #EFAR is only the beginning. I am so excited to unleash some more tunes! I make a lot of music and I can’t wait to share it all. I know there are going to be some surprises along the journey and not everyone will love what’s going to happen… But I want that. I want to challenge people. I want them to talk about things that they feel strongly about. After all, that’s what we do it for.”

TC on picking up the mic:

“I’m not scared of getting on a mic if it’s going to help put on a good show! Sometimes I help out other DJs who have not got an MC… I just like the whole thing! Like the other day I had the weekend off, so I drove jakes to one of his DJ gigs and got on the mic to help him out. I would never be like ‘yeah I’m an MC’ because I am definitely not. But if it’s going to help out the vibes of the dance I’m on it!

I have so much respect for the MC art; there are so many amazing and safe guys holding it down week in week out in the raves!”

TC on touring with Zomboy:

“The Zomboy tour was so much fun and I met so many nice people on the bus! I felt so blessed that Josh thought of me and I found it to be a really great experience. I learned about #PLUR and everything! The vibes on a bus tour is so much like a family, and I miss that. Big up to Cookie, Zomboy, Clancy, Nat Bat, Eliot, Marcus, and the driver Cowboy!”

I have so many amazing tunes I really want to play at the moment from other producers too, what a great time to be alive!

TC on his celebrating UKF’s fifth birthday:

“Happy Birthday! UKF is the best music YouTube channel and hosts some sick events! And of course big up to Luke who I always send my new stuff to because he is just a music fan at the end of the day. When I hit Building Six on October 10 you can expect a few new TC beats… I try and make something new no matter what I am doing… It’s the thing that keeps it all moving! I have so many amazing tunes I really want to play at the moment from other producers too, what a great time to be alive!”
