An exciting platform to encourage, support and inspire musicians now exists: The Marcus Intalex Foundation.
Launched October 8, the organisation will celebrate and develop the culture of community that inspired and drove Marcus throughout his massively influential career. It will include events, workshops, studio sessions, seminars and more and is driven by one precision focused view: to pass on the knowledge, help each other and keep the music moving, developing and vital.
On its Facebook page the Foundation (MIMF) explain they are a “platform to support and nurture talent in many aspects of music development and the culture that surrounds it.”
“One of Marcus’ greatest passions was to encourage and guide aspiring music talent , as well as pass on the knowledge he himself acquired over the course of his long-standing and successful career. His importance to the Manchester music scene cannot be overstated, and as an extension of that, the Marcus Intalex Music Foundation aims to continue working in this spirit. From workshops and studio sessions, to seminars and events; we will host and facilitate a series of programming for people to explore, learn and immerse themselves in everything we love about music and the people we admire.”
If there was one enduring message to take during the grief of Marcus Intalex passing in May 2017 it was the stories from artists across the board about how he’d gone out of his way to help them hone their craft and find their sound. The MIMF will ensure that legacy continues with the same strong clarity and volume as his music.
The Marcus Intalex Music Foundation will make itself known in earnest on November 2 in Marcus’s hometown Manchester at the White Hotel with a line up that reflected Marcus’s far ranging tastes and broad but instantly distinctive signature: Martyn, Scuba, Synkro and Blasha & Allatt.
Full event details can be found here and all proceeds will go towards raising money for the foundation and their program that will commence next year. We’ll keep you posted on developments.
