Few names hit as hard as Noisia. For twenty years, the Dutch trio didn’t just shape bass music, they rewired it. Now, even in their absence, the aftershocks keep rolling.
The latest instalment in their remix series- The Resonance VIII landed 12 September and comprises 16 reworks, 0 filler. From Ring Noord, Thys and Posij reimagining their own originals, to Simula tearing into the iconic Dead Limit, and heavy artillery from Mefjus, Spor, and Break, the line-up reads like a who’s who of sonic chaos.
As Noisia put it, “We want to give our 20-year catalogue to as many producers as possible. Allowing the music to echo one more time and to hear the resonance of our work.”
UKF caught up with a few of the remixers to find out how it feels to step into sacred territory, here’s what they had to say.
Noisia – Tentacles (Thys Remix)
“I started this as “just” a new version to play in my DJ sets. I needed Tentacles to be a bit more fun and playful when it drops, but wanted to keep most of the concept of the buildup – which was always the standout part of the track for me. My edit came out quite well, so I decided to show it to Nik and Martijn and we agreed I should finish it as an official remix!”
Noisia & Posij – Simplon (Posij Remix)
“I was working on a VIP for my collab with Noisia, and it has turned into this remix. Simplon is an ode to our favorite venue in our hometown of Groningen, it’s also the place where Martijn came and watch my second set ever and asked for a CD of mine, i gave him a CD with 22 of my own tracks, and eventually Noisia signed my music to their Division label. So it all started at that venue for me! Making a remix was a lot of fun, the original is very quirky as is and I turned it into a more bass heavy, sound designy monster for the dancefloor and also the audio lovers at home.”
Noisia – Straight Hook (COIDO Remix)
“Straight Hook always been one of my favourite tracks from Outer Edges and I wondered why no one remixed it. The bassline swing matched perfectly with a latin/baile funk rhythm in my mind. So one day I got the right inspiration, made an edit of it and sent it to the guys who immediately sent me back the stems for an official remix.”
Noisia – Voodoo (MUADEEP Remix)
“Voodoo is characterised by its unique sound design and punchy drum sounds. I tried to transport this energy and move the track more in a club direction.”
Noisia – Hand Gestures (feat. Joe Seven) (Run In The Jungle Remix)
“For this remix we wanted to stay true to the energy and intricacy that Noisia are known for, while pushing it into our own sound and style. We focused on bringing out the tension and atmosphere of the original, then twisting it with heavy low end movement and evolving percussion. It was both a challenge and an honour to reimagine a track from such an iconic catalogue.”
Noisia & Mayhem – Exodus (feat. KRS One) (Spor Remix)
“Exodus stood out to me as a track I remember both in itself, and as a pin of where I was in my life at that time. It’s an ambitious, highly textural and cinematic piece of music, and I think it functions more as a statement of style and ability than it does as a dance record. With that in mind I thought it would be a challenge to try and carry the soul of the record into a more danceable, rock and roll format. I was hesitant to get involved in a Resonance compilation as I knew it would be a case of being lost amongst a swathe of potentially narrow-bandwidth material, which I think runs the risk of underselling the work involved, but in this case the process was a lot of fun and existentially it’s interesting to be able to join creative dots between expanses of time.”
Noisia, Mefjus & Hybris – Reptilians (VISLA Remix)
“Being asked to remix NOISIA as a fan was insane, I didn’t even think they knew who I was! I chose reptilians as I remember Martijn did a Video on YouTube (it was a brand sponsored thing) on how they made the reptilians bass and it was the first time I had heard the song and I thought that main bass sound was insane, it was early in my producing days and took a lot of inspiration and I think I can attribute it a lot to my current sound.”
Noisia & Phace – Cannonball (Emperor Remix)
l“I first heard the Collision EP back in 2008 and it blew my little mind! Every track from the EP had a huge influence on my journey into producing Drum & Bass, especially Cannonball. To throw my own spin on this tune was an absolute honour, and I’m so grateful to Noisia and Phace for producing a track which still sounds like it’s from the future.”
Noisia & The Upbeats – Dustup (Mefjus Remix)
“I’ve always felt that the original “Dustup” by Noisia and The Upbeats had a strong wild west, Mexican standoff, gunslinger kind of vibe. This remix is my homage to that feeling, adding even more musicality inspired by Ennio Morricone’s classic scores. I’ve tried to bring a fresh 2025 retouch to enhance that timeless vibe, making it a special tribute to a track that resonates deeply with drum and bass fans of my generation.”
Noisia – Running Blind (Vici Remix)
“Running Blind is without a doubt in my top 3 Noisia tracks. It’s been on my USB sticks for over 10 years now. Taking on this beast was incredibly challenging — keeping that rolling vibe while adding my own stabby touch. I drew as much inspiration as I could from the original vibe to try and flip it my way, and I’m really proud of the result. Huge thanks to Noisia and Vision for their trust!”
Noisia – Thursday (Zombie Cats Remix)
“We chose to remix ‘Thursday’ because it’s a track that stands out for its deep emotions and atmospheric qualities, which were pivotal in shaping our love for Drum and Bass. Unlike many other tracks that have been widely reimagined in brilliant ways, ‘Thursday’ hasn’t been revisited often, making it a unique canvas for innovation. Our goal was to honor the timeless essence of the original while infusing it with fresh sound design and our own perspective, creating something both innovative and true to the roots of classic Neurofunk.”
Noisia – Voodoo (Silcrow Remix)
“I was late to the Noisia parade. My first introduction to them was listening to Outer Edges in 2017. The album (and the deep dive into their discography shortly after) revealed to me that there are levels to this stuff. “Voodoo” always stuck with me as a unique track because it seemed to go against their own style. It proved that they could do something different—simple, if I could call it that—and still remind me that I have so much to learn. So I think this remix captures that. It’s my clear homage to one of my favorite bass tracks of all time, and it shows you exactly where I’m at right now.”
