Feel the Burn! The jewel in America’s festival crown Burning Man now has a Dutch arm of operations and they’ve just announced a brand new event to be held in The Netherlands next year.
The site, launched earlier this month, establishes the same community and lifestyle goals as their Burner brethren across the pond, including Burning Man’s famous 10 principals such as radical self expression and self reliance, decommodification, civic responsibility, leaving no trace, participation and more. The site has information on various regular gatherings, details for Burner virgins and how to sign up for the brand new event: Where Sheep Sleep
Like Black Rock City’s Burning Man itself, Where Sheep Sleep will create a temporary city where everything is based wholly on participation and involvement… The event will be held between July 29 – 31 in Veluwe (which is situated west of Amsterdam) and you can apply for tickets and information by signing up to the Burning Man Netherlands Facebook group and registering your interest on the event site.
Details beyond sign-up, date and location are scant but it’s clear the Dutch Burner community are planning some big – and culturally valuable – activities around and beyond Where Sheep Sleep with an integrated program of Arts, Culture, Civic Involvement and Education. Visit their site for full details on how you can get involved and contribute.
