Fade crowd funds for Hearing Aids following catastrophic hearing loss

Ukraine-born drum & bass producer Fade has recently revealed acute hearing damage that requires use of hearing aids and has appealed for fans help raise funds to pay for them.

Fade emerged almost 10 years ago and has gone on to release on an array of significant labels in drum & bass. A versatile groove mechanic with keen eyes for both funk and weight, his releases – both as Fade and as one half of Milkyway – have come our way via Hospital, Technique, Audioporn, Renegade Hardware, Flexout, Diffrent, Free Love, Citrus and his own Faded Recordings.

His partner Julia (who he’s collaborated and written songs with in the past) set up the crowd-funding project in order to raise the €5000 to pay for the hearing aids as his only source of income has been music. In the project description she highlights how Fade has devoted his life to music:

After many visits to Laryngologists, audiologists and countless different tests. The drum & bass producer I know as Fade and also one half of Milkyway, was diagnosed with permanent hearing loss in both ears due to cochlear damage. He has -50db loss on a range 2 kHz to 8 kHz.

Due to this condition he cannot produce or play music any longer without further harm to his hearing. Unfortunately a full cure is impossible, but in order to stop the condition worsening and recover some ability to be able to listen to and produce music Fade needs high end hearing aids which cost 5000 euros. Since music was his sole source of income it has now become impossible for him to collect such an amount of money.

This campaign is to raise money for Fade to buy hearing aids which will allow him to get back some normality and are his only chance to not lost his hearing and his one and only true passion, Music.

An opportunity to ease a little stress of what must be an incredibly challenging time for Fade and his family and a kindly reminder to look after our own ears; if you’re able to help in anyway, visit his crowd-funding page.
