Elektron Analogue Heat

Since buying an analogue heat around 5 years or so ago this has been an essential piece of gear in my studio and one I’ve used on pretty much every track since owning it.

The analogue heat is a stereo analogue sound processor which includes 8 different distortion circuits, filters and other modulation capabilities. It is an extremely useful and versatile tool and like most elektron gear it’s really well built and feels amazing to use.

When I first picked this up I was immediately drawn to the different types of distortion and saturation within the unit and had hours of fun just absolutely smashing basses and 808’s through it. Whether it’s giving basses a little warmth using the clean boost or saturation setting or just fully going in and destroying them with the rough crunch or classic distortion I soon fell in love with it.

I use it on drums all the time whether that’s recording one shots and hits and getting some nice crunchy drums or running my whole drum bus through there to bring it together and give it some weight. It’s really good at levelling things out, playing with the distortion, EQ and filter recording things out of my laptop and back in again to get things sitting how I want in a tune.

I also use it with numerous other external fx units and guitar pedals to create some interesting chains. Making weird textural stuff running sounds through the analogue heat and then through some reverb and delay pedals gives some amazing results and is wicked for building up some unique stuff for intro’s/outro’s and weird things to layer throughout tunes.

Whether it’s drums, bass, pads or weird textural sounds the heat is great for adding warmth and grit and making some really interesting and unique sounds. I have used the heat in most of my releases over the past 4/5 years. I used it loads on my album ‘Dance With The Devil’ which came out in 2023 and also on all releases I’ve put out in the last year or so on my new label Evil Sky.

The analogue heat has become an essential piece of gear in the studio in recent years and I’m always getting so much use out of it.
