Fancy Taking Part In A DJ Relay World Record Attempt?

World records b2b electronic music…

Last year we saw DJ Obi breaking the world record for Longest DJ set with a cool 229 hour set.

The year before that we saw Dada Life set a high benchmark for the Largest Gathering Of People Dressed As Fruit/Veg with a cool collection of 629 fans dressed as bananas. Their feat remains unbeaten.

We also have the eminent Harry Shotta who smashed Eminem out of the record books with the Most Words In A Track title with the 1771 word beast Animal (which we got a mention for in the actual Guiness book!)

Next month will see another musical record-breaking attempt and we’re all invited to take part. Well, if you can mix a couple of tunes together….

June 24, drum & bass website Drum And Bass HQ will attempt to break the current record of Largest DJ Relay. It’s happening in the cool’n’cosy confines of the Work Bar, London (the same home used by D&BTV and DJ Mag Bunker) and it has potential to be the biggest b2b2b2b2b2b sesh of your life.

The rules are simple: the set has to be continuously mixed, every DJ plays one tune and no DJ can play twice. And, like the longest DJ set, we suspect there needs to people dancing on the dancefloor at all times. We have no idea if double or triple drops are allowed or not.

Obviously for this record attempt, it’s 100% drum & bass but previous record holders have been multi-genre. Officially the current record is held in Singapore with 133 DJs. However there also seem to be reports of 151 DJs breaking that record in Dubai in 2015. This isn’t on the Guiness site so appears to be unsubstantiated.

Either way, just to be sure they definitely beat both records, Drum And Bass HQ need as many DJs possible – all levels, skills and style of D&B welcome – to come down and get involved from 5pm. The record attempt will conclude at 10pm but the party will continue until the night at they celebrate the start of summer with the likes of Toronto Is Broken, Missrepresent, Code, Deuce & Charger, site founder J Swif and many more.

If you’re in London on June 24, love drum & bass and can mix at a passable level then we recommend you get involved, make musical record breaking history and bring the gold to Britain. Good luck!

“We have been thinking of doing the world record attempt for some time and think it will great for bringing so many people together for a common goal and is going to be so much fun bringing the world record home to London”  – J Swif
