D&B heads, we love an ID:ID right? So we’re sufficiently compelled when we hear about artists who make you stop mid-set to check the track. SUUNE, the Christchurch-based drum & bass duo, have been doing exactly that in 2025. Their tracks, like Gas, blend rolling rhythms, atmospheric textures, and just the right amount of dancefloor pressure. Music that hits the pedal hard!
Live, SUUNE have been described as bringing “contagious energy” and “unheard blends” to their shows, crafting performances that feel dynamic and immersive rather than just typical DJ sets. For the duo, every set is a journey, carefully curated to surprise and move the crowd, whether with originals, bootlegs, or hidden gems. We’re all ears.
We believe the best way to get to know someone is to look through their record collection. Today, we want to get to know SUUNE, so we’ve asked them who their ones to watch are
RageMode
The Austrian protagonist ‘RageMode’ has seriously impressed us over the past couple of years, especially since his remix of ‘No Way Out’ by Camo & Krooked. His unprecedented production skills and classical ear are genuinely inspiring, and every track he releases brings a unique emotional edge. His originality stems from his ability to balance delicate instruments and vocals with hard-hitting basslines—an incredibly difficult task, yet he nails it every time. CKM has definitely been feeding this man some of that magical Austrian schnitzel, honestly. But seriously… it’s a pleasure to listen to his music, and rumour has it we may even have something in the works together.
inmotion
A name you may recognise from our Sleepless record ‘Heartless’, released in July — these boys are going to be something truly special. With Elliot and Conor both bringing 10+ years in the game, inmotion deliver an exceptional level of quality in everything they touch. The newly formed alias only has a handful of releases out so far, but don’t be fooled — they’re sitting on a plethora of bangers behind the scenes. If you’re into all things techy, groovy, and sonically powerful, you’ll absolutely love inmotion.
Lukher
A name that spontaneously erupted onto the scene with one of the most stunning debut D&B releases we’ve heard in a proper minute — ‘Be Better / Daybreak’. Lukher brings a modernised neurofunk sound paired with beautifully written chords. We particularly love ‘Clockwork’; its clever sample selection and consistent dancefloor impact make it a staple for us. Shoutout to the Full Circle 3 mix by Titan — IYKYK. There’s never a set where we aren’t playing at least two Lukher tracks. After an impressive run in 2025, there’s no doubt Lukher will keep the ball rolling into ’26.
EMILIE
Switching gears from D&B, EMILIE brings versatility, funk, and groove to her unique UKG-inspired sound. Based in Christchurch, NZ, we found ourselves watching her at local club shows more often than not. Every set featured fresh originals — showcasing her dedication to the production side of the craft. If we had to pick a favourite from her discography, it would have to be 2025’s ‘Locked In’ as it combines two of NZ’s elite talents, Hyan and Young Gho$t, creating such a cool vibe.
OBSES
A relatively new name to us — but absolutely deserving of a mention here. Forward-thinking and experimental, OBSES blends flavours reminiscent of IMANU and The Caracal Project, with touches of Urbandawn-style funk. His distinct visual aesthetic across social media also makes him a captivating artist to follow. His latest release ‘HOPEFULLY’ with German powerhouse Phace proves we’re not the only ones who see his vision.
Deep Notion
If “underrated” were an artist — it would be Deep Notion. From club-hungry jump-up energy to soft liquid-sculpted rollers, their versatility is just one of the many things that impresses us. Their June release ‘On Top’ alongside UK’s finest up-and-coming artist T-Lex has received the utmost support from heavy hitters around the world, for good reason. If we had to choose a favourite from the lads, ‘Just Wanna Love’ takes the cake — full energy and full summer vibes. If you’re in NZ, catch us going B2B with these guys at Homegrown ‘26.
