REWIND: Seven years ago S.P.Y dropped everyone’s favourite Terminator-sampling string-soaked roller – By Your Side.
Delivered by Spearhead several years before his Hospital deal and the three awesome albums he’s dropped since; S.P.Y – By Your Side was a serious gamechanger that set the foundations for the full string sections he employed for his debut album What The Future Holds that followed two summers later.
According to legend S.P.Y wrote this for his girlfriend which is why it didn’t get a release until the winter that followed. We have no idea if this is true or not but the two massive samples (Danny Elfman’s Salvation and Annette Taylor’s Faith) may have had something to do with the delay, too.
Either way, this is still as lush, emotional and powerful as it was seven years ago. Enjoy.
