OKO’s Ones To Watch

Having graced the stages of renowned clubs like Printworks, Fabric, and Ministry of Sound, supporting distinguished D&B heavyweights such as Chase & Status and Hedex, OKO is steadily solidifying her position in the scene. She certainly isn’t going unnoticed and was selected as one of our 2024: Ones to Watch.

Drawing inspiration from a diverse range of artists, from Dimension to Sam Divine, OKO’s monthly show on Kool FM showcases the full spectrum of drum & bass as well as delving into other genres. Amplifying her presence, she has recently signed to Kool’s label, with several releases already lined up for 2024, including her latest single ‘Acid’ with Genetics. You can catch OKO playing at the Kool FM residency at London’s XOYO.

Grab your tickets to the Kool FM XOYO residency here.

We always think that the best way to get to know someone is to look through their music collection. Today, we want to get to know OKO, so we’ve asked her who her ones to watch are for 2024.

ACP

‘Dreaming’- BoujeeBass

ACP first caught my attention with his track ‘Dreaming’ which came out on BoujeeBass last year. He has a distinct sound and this man never misses. ACP has managed to perfect the art of jump up and I’m looking forward to hearing plenty more bangers in 2024.

Anaïs

‘Round to ya speaker’ – Hospital Records

Ansïs spent 2023 absolutely smashing the production. Now signed to Hospital Records, she recently put out a curated mixtape compilation – which included 3 of her own tunes. She really goes from strength to strength and has a distinctive boppy sound, tight drums and plenty of ripping 808s. I feel super grateful to have such a talented close friend. Excited to see what’s to come next for Anaïs!

T-Lex

‘Warped’- Escalation Sound

T-Lex has definitely taken the crown for the ‘Queen of Jump Up ’. As well as perfecting her high-energy sets, and writing grotty belters, she also released a track called ‘None Like Me’ with Foxx – which has a heavy grime influence – highlighting her versatility. T-Lex is certainly ‘One to Watch’.

Rendah

‘Get Lonely’ – Born on Road

Rendah’s track ‘Get Lonely’ is a staple in all of my sets. He recently sent me a huge folder of unreleased tunes and they all BANG! Again, Rendah has mastered the jump up sound design, and creates tracks that even people who don’t like jump up can’t resist singing along to. Keep smashing it Rendah.

Jamezy

‘Mi Familia’- DnB Allstars

Jamezy is a talented young producer, signed to DnB Allstars. He really is hustling and you can tell this man lives and breathes music. More recently, Jamezy has been blowing up on TikTok with his grime flips and catchy jump up selections – filmed from his 360 DnB Allstars gig. I’m super excited to see what 2024 has in store for Jamezy.

‘Crowd Control’- Onyx Recordings

Hoax is incredibly talented and has a crisp and distinct sound. I’ve been collecting his music for a while now and every release from Hoax is wicked. His track ‘Crowd Control’ is another staple in my sets and doubles perfectly with almost any track. Gwarn Hoax.

Badger

VengaBoys – We like to Party (Badger Fix-Up)

When I was asked to write this article by UKF, I knew I had to include Badger. This man has absolutely annihilated the UKG scene, whilst also creating his own original sound and making his mark on electronic music. I first met Badger a few years ago when we were both playing at an underground warehouse and he absolutely blew the place down. From creating Coldplay edits to playing a handful of genres in his sets to even jumping on the mic; this man can do it all. 2023 was huge for Badger, now let’s see what he can do in 2024.

‘Big Cats Don’t Purr’- Invicta Audio

I first discovered Formula in 2021, after downloading his track ‘Whoopsi’. I knew straight away that he was going to do well, especially after listening to the rest of his discography. I always play a handful of his tunes in my sets and cannot wait to see what he releases next.

Genetics

‘Losing Control’- Liquicity

Genetics is a wicked producer; we collabed last year and released our track ‘Acid’, which came out on Dubshotta. He is so versatile and creates absolute stompers; from liquid to dancefloor to screechy jump up. I know this man is sitting on loads of unreleased bangers so I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store for Genetics in 2024.

‘Let me get down’- Born on Road

I first discovered Bish when I moved to Bristol and caught one of his DJ sets and instantly became a huge fan. His production certainly matches the high energy of his sets! Bish has mastered the 4×4 sound and has consistently released belters, which always feature in my sets. More 4×4 in 2024 please Bish… Let’s go!
