Playlist: 25 Years Of RAM

What’s your all time favourite RAM release?

Tricky one, right? The moment you think you’ve got it pinned down to the nearest five, another 20 massive tracks spring to mind. It’s like Andy C has wormed inside your mind and he’s firing off tunes with same rapidity as he does in his sets; banger after banger after banger.

The more you think about it, the harder it becomes. Especially when you consider how many of the genre’s biggest artist’s careers began on the label; Sub Focus, Chase & Status, Culture Shock, Wilkinson…

Then there’s the massive cameos – Noisia, Randall, Fresh, Bad Company, Pendulum, Matrix, Calibre, Ed Rush & Optical, Misanthrop to name a few. Or indeed the label’s tradition of in-house powerhouses that dates back to Andy C & Ant Miles’ Origin Unknown and (with Shimon) RAM Trilogy to Calyx & TeeBee, Audio, Teddy Killerz, DC Breaks, Delta Heavy and, most recently Camo & Krooked.

Many many more heavyweight artists have appeared on RAM since 1992, and continue to do so as new talents keep appearing on the label, making it almost impossible to define just one favourite release. Luckily RAM asked us to pick a collective 25 instead. One for every year in the game. Even then it was still a mission to reduce it down from 50 (each).

Here it is, though… What have we missed out?

25 years is a life time in any game. In drum & bass it’s several generations. For a label to operate in the genre for that time, with such a consistent release rate, it’s almost unparalleled (SS’s 28-year-old Formation Records takes the crown there). But to do it at the dominant forefront level RAM have is genuinely peerless. Currently denting the US with their 25 Years Of RAM Tour, the label have plenty more celebratory plans throughout the year.

Need more RAM? Look no further, we’ve compiled over 100 RAM releases we’ve uploaded over the last seven years right here. Enjoy…
