Good times… This weekend in the UK is three days long. So let’s go out on a bang!
Bank Holiday weekends have long been the provider of massive parties across the cities and fields of Britain and this year is most definitely no exception. The UK certainly knows how to make use of a Monday off work and we all know that is a point that needs to be celebrated.
From massive street parties to big old messy festivals and everything in between; there is plenty to get involved in and forget about those end of summer blues; it’s fair to say August bank holiday is the busiest weekend on the UK festival calendar.
We’ve selected the six of the events the UK has to offer over this (hopefully sunny) bank holiday weekend. So before you start packing away your shorts and start getting your winter grump on, slap on your dancing shoes. There is still time to make a last minute decision and squeeze the last cup of party juice out of the weekend…
Notting Hill Carnival
Sun/Mon (August 30-31)
Europe’s biggest, most colourful and wildest street party returns to the streets of Notting Hill once again. The world famous carnival plays host to an array of killer soundsystems, street food, colourful processions and all manner of street party craziness.
Steeped in its proud Caribbean history the two day street party allows all your senses to be stimulated as you dance your way into the crowds and immerse yourself in the vibes and follow your nose to the best soundsystems. FYI: All the best parties are on the Monday and Toddla T’s annual smash-up (pictured) is looking very tasty with the likes of DRS, Cadenza, Julio Bashmore, T Williams, Redlight and many more. Creamfields
Fri/Sat/Sun (29-30 August)
One of the UK’s largest and most longstanding dance festivals on the calendar: Creamfields provides the masses with the three days of the biggest names in the game. Headline sets are promised by the likes of Avicii, Chemical Brothers and Knife Party but the whole line-up is looking meaty…
Fatboy Slim, Oliver Heldens, Eric Prydz, Annie Mac, Thomsas Jack, David Zowie, Dillon Francis, Andy C, High Contrast, Shift K3y and Chris Lorenzo are just a handful of the multi-stage madness Creamfields promises this weekend. (Info)
SW4
Sat/Sun (29-30 August)
Carnival isn’t the only big blowout happening in London this weekend. Head south of the river and you’ll find some of the worlds biggest DJs gracing the stages across Clapham’s idyllic Common. Now something of an institution in the UK capital; the two-day party is rich with diverse sounds, visuals and spectacles alike to get your body moving and fists pumping! Highlights include Faithless, Skrillex, Andy C, Sub Focus, Basement Jaxx, Wilkinson, Hannah Wants, Calyx & TeeBee, Camo & Krooked, Roni Size, Gotsome, Sigma and lorry loads more. (Info)
End Of The Line Festival
Fri/Sat (28-29 August)
Another London option is the brand new End Of The Line Festival: Travel right to the end of the Metropolitan line and you’ll find the freshly conceived bash testing the waters of city’s outskirts.
In its inaugural year, ETOL have recruited a really interesting line-up that ranges from D&B legends John B (pictured) and DJ Storm to ambient king Ulrich Schnauss. They’ll be playing on a site that’s full of local artists and graffiti painters. A line-up that’s refreshingly free from the same old EDM names and weekend ticket prices for £30… End Of The Line Festival have entered a crowded market with something genuinely different. Reading & Leeds Festival
Fri/Sat/Sun (28-30 August)
This year’s Reading and Leeds brings a wider range of electronic and dance DJs to the Bank Holiday weekends long standing citizens. Developing more and more from its rock and indie heritage every year, this year sees the dance stage at both Reading and its younger sister festival Leeds bang out sets from Wilkinson, MK, DJ Fresh, Hudson Mohawke and many many more. A weekend that brings a wide spectrum of sounds and genres returns in 2015 and is stronger than ever…. Day tickets are still available for Reading and there are still camping tickets available for Leeds. (Info)
Shambala
Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun (27-30 August)
A colourful explosion of sounds and spectacle makes Shambala a favourite amongst many looking for an intimate and independent festival. Shambala tread the perfect balance between party fun and wholesome family vibes without compromising on either. Amongst the immersive art, talks and workshops there’s some sick beats from the likes of High Contrast, Roni Size, Gramatik, Fred V & Grafix, Shlomo, DJ Food and even old school hip-hop legends the Jungle Brothers! Vibrant vibes and a really interesting line-up to boot… Shambala has it all. (Info)
