Top 10: Barely Alive’s All Time Favourite Remixes

We’ve been chatting remixes with Barely Alive this week. It would be rude not to really, considering Disciple Recordings have curated a remix album of elephantine proportions…

Funtcase, Getter, Evol Intent, UZ, Mayhem & Antiserum, HeRobust, Trampa, Emperor, Henry Fong and many more have delivered superlative versions that add even more life and dimension to the duo’s debut album We Are Barely Alive.

Matt and Willie even got in on the refix action themselves with this tag-team tear-up of Binary with Virtual Riot…

With this all-star cast of remixers in mind we asked Matt and Willie to pick their all time favourite remix top 10. Like the remix album – which is set for release April 4 – they delivered some serious beats….

Moksi – The Dopest (Cesqeaux Remix)

Matt: Proof that new things can still be done in bass music.

Excision – X Rated (Space Laces Remix)

Matt: I remember the first time I heard this drop. Still chills.

LMFAO – Sexy And I Know It (Mord Fustang Remix)

Matt: I used to listen to this song on my way to the gym. Impossible to not dance to.

iSquare – Hey Sexy Lady (Skrillex Remix)

Matt: Had to include Skrillex on here. One of my favorites he has ever done.

KOAN Sound – Talk Box (Kill The Noise Remix)

Matt: Some of my favorite sounds in any song.

Konflict – Messiah (Noisia Remix)

Willie: This is still the king of epic remixes after 10 years. There’s nothing like that half-minute long buildup.

Benny Benassi – Cinema (Skrillex Remix)

Willie: This set the bar for big dubstep remixes and basically invented “drop the bass”.

Kiesza – Hideaway (Mitch Murder Remix)

Willie: Nothing but good feels in this track, the most accurate clone of 80s pop music to come out of this millennium.

Porter Robinson – Unison (Knife Party Remix)

Willie: The tempo switchup is one of the coolest remix techniques I’ve ever heard.

Nero – Must Be The Feeling (Kill The Noise Remix)

Willie: It’s all about the growl stabs in the intro that come out of nowhere. Classic!
