Top 10: UK Festivals 2016

Festival season is a matter of months away. Time to start saving, planning and scouring line-ups.

Last month we listed 10 killer European Festivals now it’s time to explore the local landscape. We can’t promise good weather but with each of these events the vibe is guaranteed. Glastonbury might be sold out but there are many more killer outdoor events for UK party people, here’s where we’ll be raving on home soil this summer…

(Listed in alphabetical order)

Bestival

Where: Robin Hill Country Park, Isle Of Wight
When: September 8-11
How much: £190
Info

Every September the humble island that is the Isle of Wight is invaded by costume-wearing party lovers of all natures. From straight-up ravers to families, Bestival welcomes them all with a well-thought range of activities and acts. There’s one proviso: get involved in the facy dress spirit. This year’s line-up is just as diverse than ever. As well as big names such as Eats Everything, Goldie, Camo & Krooked, Skream and Shy FX there’s a big emphasis on fresh and unsigned talent and, rather weirdly, Classic FM presenter Aled Jones making his MC debut over a classic jungle set with Rob Da Bank. Rewind?

Boomtown

Where: Hampshire
When: August 11-14
How much: £170
Info

Welcome to the unique world of Boomtown where an entire makeshift city with its own streets, shops and districts are created for you to explore over the weekend. Within these districts are 24 stages. Yes, 24. And many of them feature some incredible names, Calibre, AC Slater, Countersrike, DJ Die, DJ Zinc, Calyx & Teebee, Audio, Mefjus, Emperor, Billain, Foreign Concept, Machinecode, GotSome, Om Unit, Stanton Warriors and Culprate are just a tiny handful of the names on offer this year. Booming.

Hospitality In The Park

Where: Finsbury Park, London
When: September 24
How much: Register for information
Info

Renowned D&B party hosts Hospitality are hosting their first outdoor all-dayer and they’re teasing us with information. Announced a few weeks back, they’re still trickling out titbits with no line-up or even ticket price confirmed. Here’s what we know: It’s in Finsbury Park, North London, there are five arenas – Hospitality and Rampage are confirmed as hosts but the remaining three are unknown – and they promise decent festival food. Even with this limited information we know this is going to be a good one… It’s Hospitality!

Lovebox

Where: Victoria Park, London
When: July 15-16
How much: Around £90 for both days

Now in its 11th year, Lovebox is one of London’s most popular two day festivals. Taking residence in Victoria Park, it’s developed a reputation for eclectic line-ups that cover the broadest tastes.  From Major Lazer to LCD Soundsystem by way of ODESZA, Hannah Wants, Run The Jewels and the king of funk George Clinton, Lovebox will be repping styles in all directions. This year will also see Fabric make its festival debut with its own arena. Tickets are flying for this one.

NASS

Where: Near Bristol

As well as a thrilling line-up that boasts the likes of Andy C, Spor, Wilkinson, Modestep, Knife Party, My Nu Leng and Jurassic Five NASS is also home to an international skating competition and the World BMX Championships. Proof that festivals are much more than music alone, NASS is one of a kind on the UK festival landscape.

Noisily

Where: Leicester
When: July 7-10
How much: Around £120
Info

Celebrating their fifth year in the Leicester rave wilderness, Noisily promise their capacity will never rise above 4000 in order to maintain its intimate, underground vibe. Refusing to play the big name game and investing a lot of attention to detail on their production and vibe, Noisily is one for the true ravers and this year’s line-up is one of their most interesting so far. Among the techno and psy trance talent you’ll find a whole stack of bass acts such as KOAN Sound, Culprate, Reso, Joe Ford, Disprove, Kursa and loads more.

Sundown Festival

Where: Norfolk Showground, Norwich
When: September 2-4

The line-up includes Chase & Status, Kano, Jaguar Skills, My Nu Leng, David Rodigan, Wilkinson, Friciton, Goldie, Hazard, Dimension, DJ Zinc, Flava D and loads more. We’re amped for this one.

SW4
