Meet Seven-Headed. The Groningen and Leeuwarden-based producer and guitarist has roots in metal, a fascination with folklore religious imagery and generally just a bunch of unsettling things. He’s got a habit of threading guitar, intresting textures and intricate, detailed percussion through his work. He’s also been part of the northern Netherlands scene for years, from organising Ondergronds nights in Leeuwarden to helping shape SubCulture Recordings and working with the VISION crew.
We think the best way to get to know someone is always to look through their music collection. Today, we want to get to know Seven-Headed, so we’ve asked him who his ones to watch are for 2026.
S.Maze
Sometimes I call him Groningen’s newfound dubstep master, other days I just call him Ser, but this guy is definitely on the grind of becoming a producer that stands on his own. Ser isn’t afraid to stand against the waves of mainstream EDM culture which is exactly what we need in the Dutch bass scene.
Banoozled
Benji just has what it takes. He’s about the experimental type of stuff, and just has this really inviting younger brother energy about him (I hope he doesn’t hate me for saying this). His productions are getting more impressive everytime he plays me something and it’s only a matter of time before he blows up I reckon. Plus, he has the swag.
Adi-J
From what I understand Adi has been quite the veteran in the scene of the Netherlands. (Shame on me for not knowing about her sooner). I discovered her in this place in Amsterdam called ‘Stupid’ (shoutout Geert & Olaf!) where I was invited to play in the final days of 2024. She closed the night with a vinyl set, and proceeded to you know, kinda melt my face away. Turns out she was a rather lovely person too. Big up Adi!
TER3NCE
If you like it loud, techy, and rolling, Utrecht-based TER3NCE is your guy. I remember seeing him play at one of the drum ’n bass nights we had in Leeuwarden after which I started to look up his stuff. All of his tunes just work easily in a set as well.
Lian Feldd – Mana
This guy really knows how to write a song. His stuff isn’t just near-perfect mixdown wise, but there’s emotion in there, a story, you know? I first got my hands on ‘Mana’ when Julian sent it over to me alongside a couple of other tracks. I instantly connected to the tune and about half a year later I signed it for the first Nomos V.A. on SubCulture Recordings, which I was doing A&R for. I really feel like it’s exactly these types of tracks that kind of go underappreciated in this day and age
Ferice
Yannick is one of Groningen’s most prolific producers if you ask me. You instantly know it’s a Yannons track if it has deep bass, scratchy and sometimes almost abrasive growls, and drums with lots of high end. Anyway, the remix done by him above really hits the spot for me on multiple levels: growly basses, lots of sub, but also melody. It’s on the verge of being more of a song than just a track. I like that. I want to be able to listen to it without it being in a mix.
Visages – Early Morning
I know they’re not exactly up and coming anymore, but I had to include these guys anyway as they were pivotal in my own development as an artist. Visages were kind of the first to show me that drum ’n bass isn’t all about ‘the drop’ and things being as loud as they possibly can. It’s about musicality, vibe, and conveying an emotion. I had ‘Early Morning’ on repeat for quite some time and was just in awe by how the melodies and pads come together. Very inspiring stuff.
Resslek – Dimensions
I’m kind of jealous of Resslek’s sound, I wish I came up with it myself, haha. His drums are super tight and he makes the sub bass an instrument of its own – super funky stuff. Some people know that I had this weird obessesion for a while with stereo kicks like in this track or Alix Perez’ ‘Under Pressure’ and I kind of tried to do something similar in my own track ‘Wormwood’, but I have never gotten it as clean. I think I play a Resslek tune in every set. That’s how good he is ☺
Hound – Blue Shade
I found out about Hound via Four Corners Music, the label that released my first track ‘Charagma’. I was checking out some of the other artists that were releasing on there and it wasn’t long before Hound came ‘round with his ‘Blue Shade’ EP. I played the heck out of this EP, it’s all bangers, but the title track is just something deep and special.
Paige Julia – Indisputable
Alright, alright, I know she’s also more established than a newcomer, but I just love her stuff. ‘Indisputable’ is an amazing track that I use all the time in my sets to switch it up to more jungly vibes. It has never failed to blow up the dancefloor once. It’s a very well done track and I love everything about it. Big up!
